What You’ll Do

NPFE seeks a Teacher Assistants to support classroom teachers or other professionals to achieve instructional objectives for students. The Teacher Assistant will assist teachers and support students in achieving established academic goals, ensure the safety and well being of students, and perform other duties as needed or assigned to support students in our classrooms. 

Job Requirements

Education/Experience

• 60 more college credits required; bachelor's degree preferred 

• Some experience working with students in a classroom setting

Knowledge/Skills

• General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in teaching individual and groups of students

• General knowledge of classroom management and working with school-aged children

• Skill in the use of classroom and instructional equipment

• Ability to operate audio visual, standard office, word and data processing equipment

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students, and administrators.

• Ability to maintain files, documents, and information

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher(s) in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional and behavioral objectives. 

• Work with individuals, small groups, or large groups of students, providing instructional support, the reinforcement of lesson objectives, etc., as assigned by teacher.

• Assist with classroom management and behavior support, i.e. monitoring the class while the teacher works with a small group of students, as needed and assigned by teacher.

• Report student concerns directly and expeditiously to teacher and assist with student resolution.

• Assist with breakfast, lunch, snack, including clean-up.

• Maintain various records and files, assist with reviewing student work and monitoring student progress 

• Escort students as assigned by teacher or administrator.

• Monitor students and deliver instruction during assigned periods or as needed, including stepping in to substitute teach when/if needed within a variety of school environments 

• Perform other related work as needed or assigned.
